I served in the Navy.

Robert E. Sutton
April 19, 1941 – February 10, 2018
After a long battle with cancer, Bob Sutton passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at home surrounded by loving family members. Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA, April 19, 1941, to the late Eano and Thelma Sutton.
As an 18-year-old, Bob joined the US Navy to “see the world.” He was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, where he was a parachute rigger. In all, Bob served four years on active duty and two more in the reserves. While stationed in Pensacola, Bob met Gloria Willard Sutton of Mobile, AL and began a relationship which soon led to the altar and to Mobile. Gloria and Bob realized how special their relationship was, and they retained that magic for fifty-seven years.
Besides Gloria, his wife, best friend and soulmate, Bob leaves to mourn him two children, William R. Sutton and wife, Nancy, and Natalie S. Smith and husband, Michael; four wonderful grandchildren, Justin Sutton (Crystal), Chelsea S. Baldwin (Aaron), Zack Sutton (Haley), and Lindsey S. DuBose (Brad); and great-grandchildren, Conner, Easton, Liam, and Wilder Sutton, and soon to arrive, a young DuBose. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Patton of Narberth, PA, along with many special nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Mr. Sutton was retired from Olin Chemical, where he worked as a chemical operator for over thirty years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Mobile, AL. There will be a private family gathering followed by visitation from 10:30 AM until 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please donate to American Cancer Society or Christ United Methodist Church in Bob’s memory. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
